Schoology is an online learning management system (LMS) designed to facilitate blended learning in the 21st Century classroom. Blended learning is a blending of traditional pencil-paper school work with online learning. As members of the 21st century it is essential that students learn how to work efficiently both on and off line. All of my classes are managed through Schoology, which means all students must have a Schoology account and be enrolled in my class within the first three days of class. Several other teachers at Los Alisos and throughout the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District also utilize Schoology to facilitate blended learning. Once you have created your Schoology account to join one class, you can use that same account to join many other classes at the same time. Below are directions on how to create a Schoology account.
How does my child access Schoology?
Students are granted access to their Schoology account with their Google Drive sign in. Schoology, Google Drive, and PowerSchool are all linked so that students may use a Single Sign On for each service. If your child does not know their login information, ask Mrs. Snyder. To access Schoology from different devices there are different procedures: Desktop: Go to nlmusd.schoology.com. This will redirect you to a Google sign on page. Make sure that you enter your FULL Google email ([email protected]) in the email section.
iPad: Download the Schoology app from the App Store. Choose the green "Username" sign in option. Tap "Select School." Type "Norwalk La Mirada USD". Our district should appear in a list with a green arrow. Tap on the green arrow. You will be redirected to a Google sign in screen. Sign in with your Google email ([email protected]).
iPhone/iPod Touch: Same as for the iPad.
Other Tablets and Smart Phones: Use your web browser to go to nlmusd.schoology.com. You will be redirected to a Google sign in page. Make sure that you enter your FULL Google email ([email protected]) in the email section. Please keep in mind that these browsers/tablets may not fully support the ability for students to turn in work. At this time the only reliable means of work submission is through a desktop, iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch (must be running iOS 7.0 or later).
How can Parents access Schoology information?
Parents can view their student's activity in Schoology by using a "Parent Access Code." Parent access codes give parents the ability to create a Parent Schoology Account. Parent Schoology Accounts allow you to view when assignments were turned in, when and how they were graded, and what feedback was given on the assignment.
