Life-Long Learning
_ I'm Mrs. Snyder, and welcome to my class! This year, at Los Alisos, I will be teaching 4 sections of Project Lead The Way: Gateway To Technology and 1 section of Video Production. I am also the advisor and coach of our LEGO Robotics Club and Team: RoboLobos as well as our VEX Competetive Robotics Team: LoboBots. I am proud to be an active member of the Los Alisos Technology Magnet this year and look forward to a fun and engaging year. I have been teaching in Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School district since 2008 as a middle school teacher. I have previously taught in the middle grades at Los Coyotes Middle School and Hutchinson Middle School. I graduated from Palos Verdes Peninsula High School and continued my education at El Camino Community College. In 2005, I transferred to California State University Long Beach where I majored in Liberal Studies and enrolled in CSULB's teacher education program. In 2007, I graduated with my BA in Liberal Studies and my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. In 2011, I returned to CSULB where I earned my Single Subject Teaching Credential in Foundational Mathematics and Industrial and Technology Education. I am also a Level 1 Google Certified Educator, Project Lead The Way Master Teacher, and an International Standards for Technology Education Organization Conference speaker.
In 2017 I furthered my academic career by earning a Master of Arts in Education degree focusing on Educational Technology. This program not only deepened my understanding of Educational Technology, but it provided me with the unique opportunity of completing the entire program online. This experience solidified my belief that online learning programs should be readily available for all learners and I applied for a position as an online educator with Project Lead The Way. In January of 2017, I completed my training as an online trainer for Project Lead The Way and have taken my first steps to broadening online learning opportunities. As a technology education teacher, it is my goal to provide students with the most up to date information on technology systems and how to best utilize them as members of the 21st Century. Work in my classes will include the daily use of computers, the Internet, iPads, cameras, and other digital media. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family: Husband Marty, Cat Scar, and Son Tristan. My husband and I enjoy movies, video games, computers, and building things for our house. Tristan enjoys trips to Disneyland and chewing on...well, everything. Exploring is one of my favorite things to do, whether it be the exploration of a place or a new idea. More often than not, I can be found exploring the Universe with the Doctor. ;) |

As a teacher in the 21st century, it is my goal to provide students with the necessary knowledge and tools to be technologically competent and fluent in today's technology resources and tools. With such goals, students will be required to work extensively with computers, tablets, web sources, multimedia devices, and {most importantly} each other. I will provide students with a modern and relevant education that will both inspire and engage them.
