Club AdvisorsAbout Club Robo Lobo
Club Robo Lobo is the after-school robotics club and competition team at Los Alisos Middle School. In Club Robo Lobo, you will learn about basic robotics engineering and programming as well as valuable team work and competition skills. In previous years, the club has used LEGO NXT Mindstorms robotics kits for exploration and competition. Club Robo Lobo competes annually at the USC MESA Robotics competition. In the past four years, Robo Lobo has consistently placed in the top four positions in a competition among 20 other teams! Club Robo Lobo will continue to participate in this competition yearly!
In the 2015-2016 School Year, Club Robo Lobo will be adopting a Team Application setting. Pre-formed teams of 3-4 students will apply for acceptance to the club. Once accepted, teams will compete against each other in a series of mini challenges. Preparation for these competitions will begin in October and weekly/daily club attendance is required to maintain a spot on the team. Only current club members will be considered for the 2016 USC MESA team. These spots will be filled and announced within Club Robo Lobo in March, when the USC challenge is announced. Club Robo Lobo is open to all students, both magnet and general population. Magnet students are expected to be mentors to students of the general population and are not guaranteed a spot on any team. There will be a total of two teams this year, each consisting of 6 members. Two alternates will be selected for each team as well. All teams will be chosen by the Club Robo Lobo coaches based on meeting and class performance (meeting and class for magnet students, meeting for general population), citizenship, and maintenance of a 2.0 GPA. Any and all Club Robo Lobo members can participate in the preparation for competition, but team positions will be limited. If you are not interested in competing on the team, you are still welcome to join Club Robo Lobo and learn about robotics in a fun environment. |
